dotCMS empowers the administrator, allowing full control over access, permissions, tools, hosts and objects within the web interface. With dotCMS 1.9, you have fewer things to bug your IT person about.

As an admin, it is nice to be able to see what fellow users are seeing. Simply select the user and click the Login As button. No need to log out and log back in. Great time saver when troubleshooting permissions.

Drag and drop the tools your users need in order to do their job in dotCMS. You can assign multiple tools to a tab, and assign those tabs to a user or role. The tool manager makes provisioning a user's admin console very easy.

dotCMS introduces the concept of hierarchical roles within the system. This allow an administrator, when assigning permissions, to mirror an organizations org chart and makes complex permission schemes simpler to understand an implement.

1.9 now includes two features that simplifies complex permission schemas- Permission Inheritance and Locked Roles. In dotCMS you can create a role, grant it global permissions and force all objects (or types of objects) to respect those permissions. Or you can permission at the content object level. Or even both. With dotCMS 1.9, you control who has access to your content.

With dotCMS Standard and above, you have LDAP and Active Directory integration. This provides you with secure, automated authentication and role provisioning capabilities to keep your web content and sites safe.
